The knowledge or skill obtained or developed by a learning process.

In this section of the Archives, you'll find out about the schools I've attended, academic degrees and awards I've received, and extracurricular activities I've done. That includes a Bachelor of Arts from Hampshire College—a progressive liberal arts institution in Amherst, Massachusetts—where I studied music history, composition, and contemporary culture.

High school is more complicated story. I entered my town's public high school as a freshman. Toward the end of the year, I was at a school assembly and heard my peers mocking a somewhat plump girl dancing on stage. I thought to myself, "At least she's up there doing something," then turned to a friend and said aloud, "I'm not coming back here next year." As a woman of my word, I didn't.

I went home and told my parents I wanted to transfer to a private school. They said if I could figure out how to pay for it, I could go. To make a long story short: I applied, got in, and received enough in scholarships and financial aid to finish up at Chase Collegiate School (then known as St. Margaret’s-McTernan School).
